Summary
QA engineer growing into test automation, with 10+ years at Verizon testing a site serving 70M monthly visitors. Builds and proves test suites in personal projects made with Claude Code under issue, pull request, and CI guardrails, owning every design, review, and testing decision: a public Playwright suite, requirements traceability linking 760+ tests to requirement issues, API and contract tests, and a 458+ test suite behind a 90% coverage gate. Each check is proven able to fail before it is trusted.

Projects
Care Communication Board
2026Solo Developer / Product Owner(Personal project)
- Designed, built, and shipped an ad-free communication app for Android and the web for a family member temporarily unable to speak, reaching first release in 4 days and v1.0 in 13 days while directing an AI coding agent and owning all architecture and review decisions, giving her a dependable way to communicate throughout her recovery.
- Engineered a suite of 458+ tests that runs on the JVM, in headless Chrome, and on an Android emulator, backed by a 90% coverage gate and required checks on every merge, catching regression defects before they could reach a user.
- Diagnosed intermittent CI hangs in the browser test suite, tracing them to a UI test clock that stepped one frame at a time and an animation that kept re-arming itself, then fixed the test harness so a 16-run stress test went from 6 hung runs to 16 of 16 passing.
- Audited which tests CI actually ran, using Claude Code to look for gaps, and uncovered that half the UI test suite was failing unnoticed because CI never ran it, then repaired the tests and added emulator-based UI testing to CI, closing a blind spot that let UI regression defects slip past a passing build.
- Configured GitHub Actions CI with branch protection and parallel Android and web jobs, requiring lint, tests, coverage, a documentation check, and the build to pass before any merge, keeping broken code off the main branch.
- Diagnosed and fixed a race condition that could silently save stale data, and proved the fix with a regression test that fails reliably without it, protecting users' saved boards from silent data loss.
- Implemented a CI coverage gate that fails the build if core code drops below 90% line coverage (currently 91-99.5%), keeping the core logic protected as the app kept growing.
- Wrote an automated smoke test for the live website that loads the production build, taps a tile, checks for errors, then stops the server and confirms the app still works offline, catching a broken release as soon as it goes live.
- Introduced screenshot regression tests for the board and every dialog in portrait, landscape, and dark theme, making visual changes visible in each pull request.
- Hardened the new picture and emoji tile enhancements with 45 automated tests and a follow-up sweep for edge cases like pictures that load late or go missing, catching regression defects before any user could hit them.
- Automated UI tests for screen rotation, touch gestures, and accessibility font scaling, alongside testing on physical devices and emulators, catching real layout and input problems on the screens people actually use.
Personal portfolio website
2026Developer / Test Author(Personal project)
- Designed a public Playwright suite that renders every resume version from the site's own data files and checks each one against the skills and bullets it should show, catching missing or wrong resume content before it goes live.
- Proved the portfolio site's test suite could fail by deliberately breaking the site with a dead link, a missing heading, a truncated PDF, pale text, and players that load on their own, confirming the right tests caught each one and giving a passing build real meaning.
- Derived test expectations from the same YAML files the site is built from, eliminating a second hand-copied list that can go stale and keeping every test accurate as the content changes.
- Linked every one of 760+ Playwright tests to a GitHub requirement issue and added a CI gate that fails on untested requirements, unknown tags, or untagged tests, confirmed by breaking each rule on purpose.
- Automated 47 API and contract tests (40 mocked on every pull request, 7 live weekly) with JSON Schema contracts and a Newman-run Postman collection, proving them with deliberate schema, mock, and code breaks.
Professional Experience
Thermal Process Development
2026-PresentDigital Transformation Consultant / Project Manager (Contract)
- Built and maintained an open-source VBA Excel add-in that turns Smartsheet exports into branded customer equipment lists, project schedules, and vendor quote packages, cutting a 4+ hour, several-hundred-click manual build to 4 clicks and about 10 seconds.
- Created 20+ Rubberduck unit tests, a GitHub Actions workflow that checks every code change for broken ribbon buttons and missing coding standards, and a pre-release check that the source matches the built add-in, catching regression defects and shipping mismatches before users could see them.
- Caught three failing AI-written unit tests by running them, then fixed the test data instead of the correct code, leaving all 20+ tests passing against both real-world and synthetic inputs.
Verizon Wireless
2012-2024- Quality Assurance Lead2017-2024(Concurrent Jira Project Lead)
- Quality Assurance Engineer2012-2017
- Validated 20 third-party subscription integrations end to end, using Postman to confirm subscription status and service tier against each partner's API, and SQL to verify the matching subscription and customer IDs stored on Verizon's side, confirming both companies' records agreed before customers relied on them.
- Authored requirements and acceptance criteria for an internal mock-customer data retrieval tool and worked with developers to strengthen test coverage, giving testers up-to-date and realistic customer data through tabbed field groups and fields searchable by name or ID.
