Jabroni Fest
Live music I help put on, run by volunteers.
Jabroni Productions
Jabroni Productions puts on an annual charity music festival, called Jabroni Fest, and several smaller shows a year, run by three volunteers.
- 11 yearsrunning the festival
- More than 20bands at the festival
- Around 400people in attendance
- About $2,000raised each year for Y'all Rock Camp ATL
- Up to 20smaller shows a year
My role
I am one of the three volunteer organizers. I own booking, band scheduling, backlining, and promotion.
How it runs
- Deliberately low-cost, to give local bands the most exposure while still returning any surplus to charity.
- Expectations are set upfront: out-of-town bands are paid fairly, local bands are asked to donate their time, and all surplus goes to the charity.
- Changeovers stay tight because bands share gear and help each other load on and off stage.
- On-the-spot technical support for performers who are new to the shared gear, troubleshooting setups between sets.
- The booking, scheduling, and promotion processes have been refined over more than a decade of the festival.
The cause
The festival raises money for Y'all Rock Camp ATL, an inclusive music camp program.
